Self-catered ski chalets and apartments offer a degree of flexibility that catered chalets and hotels cannot match. Skiers and snowboarders taking the self-catered route have to organize their meals, snacks and all logistics themselves, but they enjoy a freedom to enjoy their ski holiday with no ties whatsoever. For this reason, it remains a popular way to experience the Alps among friends and family.
Booking a self-catered property for your ski holiday means you can enjoy a relaxed, homely atmosphere, with the freedom and flexibility to plan your skiing holiday as you wish. You can choose when and where you want to eat, whether you decide to cook each evening or try out a different restaurant every night - it’s completely up to you. The only question is, who’s doing the washing up?!
Self-catering apartments are common across many ski resorts in Europe, though they are perhaps more abundant in purpose-built ski resorts such as Val Thorens or Les Arcs. Similarly to catered chalets and hotels, self-catering apartments offer something for everyone – from cheap and cheerful accommodation to luxury apartments with relaxing spa and sauna facilities.
Larger self-catering chalets are harder to come by, as apartments are typically on the smaller side, so if you are a larger group you may have to book a cluster of apartments next to each other to accommodate your group size. This is of course something we can help with.
