Description

Kuhtai is a small, family friendly resort only 45 minutes from Innsbruck, making this one of the shortest transfers in the Alps.

What the resort lacks in size, it more than makes up for in character.

Apres

The high altitude of Kuhtai means that everyone can make the most of the great conditions and then party hard off the slopes. The resort isn’t huge and so there aren’t that many bars, most can be found in the hotels. The resort is relatively unknown to the British and so there is little English spoken in bars and hotels.

One of the most lively bars is the Schirmbar which is cosy, has live music and friendly staff. The Hotel Alpen Rose is right in the centre of town and has a friendly bar.

The umbrella bars on the mountain get busy at the weekends as many locals come when they’re not working.

Eating out

Kuhtai is a small resort with a few restaurants and bars, what there is is very good and mainly based in hotels. The Jagdschloss was once an old hunting lodge and is now a stunning hotel with a beautiful decor with rustic furnishings. Through the day the sun terrace is lovely and through the evening the cosy restaurant makes for a fantastic atmosphere. Before your meal why not try a little wine tasting in the wine cellar.

The Hotel Alpenrose serves up good simple Austrian food which is a good price, staff here are extremely friendly. The homemade pizza is a particular highlight.

Activities

The Igloo village in Kuhtai is a great place to enjoy a drink or maybe even spend a night. You can learn to build an igloo (lasting 3.5 hours for €69 per person), go on a snowshoe or toboggan adventure (lasting 2-2.5 hours costing €39 per person) .

The village also has a great range of fun sports including snow tubing, zipfelbobing and snow biking. All of these cost around €49.
