Apres

Despite its reputation as a family resort, there are over 20 bars and pubs, a casino and three nightclubs to satisfy anyone with a craving for après-ski action.

There is live folk music at the Braukeller which kicks off at 20:00 and is a popular tourist destination. If you want to mingle with the locals, head to the Sportcafe Sailer and enjoy a beer on the outdoor terrace.

Later on, there is dancing at the Fundisco Jeep which is opposite the Siglu, a small igloo bar that is always popular and plays rock music until the early hours.

Those who stay out the latest usually end up at Fledermaus in the Spiel-Casino Seefeld which is the main disco on Seefeld. Various events in the winter season are hosted by the Casino which has established itself as a sought-after night time venue in the Olympiaregion.

Eating out

Seefeld village is famed for great restaurants and despite its relatively small size, the village boasts 40 to choose from. Some of these places have grown with the resort through decades and some, even centuries, giving them an authenticity that you won’t find anywhere else.

The Südtiroler Stube is a hundred year old establishment and houses a succession of separate rooms offering various meat dishes; grilled on charcoal is the speciality. The main attraction of the Hotel Klosterbräu in Klosterstrasse is the 500 year old wine cellar which serves as a particularly romantic setting for a mountain meal. The Kracherle Moos consists of four rooms converted from traditional Tyrolean farm houses. Each serves an exceptional cuisine in the cosy setting of a Tyrolean style hut, each with traditional tile stoles. Dishes are reasonably priced and the restaurant is open until midnight.

For something more laid back, the Adams Bistro Bar of the Hotel Eden has a great menu which is complemented by the carefully selected wine list and comfy leather sofas. There is a warm, convivial atmosphere on Friday nights and live music is played until midnight.

If you are craving a break from the rich local cuisine, La Traviata in Dorfplatz is the friendly, local pizzeria and a great choice for a family night out. There is also a Chinese restaurant on the same street as the Hotel Eden.

Activities

Seefeld offers a range of alternative activities both on and off snow.

On the mountain, you can try everything from cross-country skiing, ski jumping, ice skating, skiing, curling and snow-shoe hiking. There are also spa and swimming centres if you are looking to relax and restore your energy after a day’s skiing. There is also a great choice of day bus excursions to local places of scenic and cultural interest.

The Olympia Sport and Congress Centre and the elegant Alpenbad Leutasch spa are tranquil and spacious swimming facilities. The Olympia hosts a range of great family facilities and a restaurant, and the Alpenbad Leutasch offers visitors air massage couches, thermal baths, massage and body treatments and a luxury sauna.

The Olympiaregion offers great access to the mountain without skis. There are several special trails that are floodlit in the evening for evening cross-country skiing as well as dog walking routes.
The mountain is perfect for cross-country skiers with 279 km of well-maintained trails catering for all levels of ability. If you are new to the sport, it is a fantastic way to exercise and improve fitness whilst taking in the sunning panoramic mountain views from the tracks. The runs include 154km of trails for classic cross-country skiing and 125km for skating-style skiing and many sections have both running alongside each other. Pick up a map of the cross-country tracks at the information offices in resort. Alternatively, you can book a guided snow-shoe along the tracks.
Driving to resort or hiring a car is a good idea for tourists as the Seefeld plateau is perfectly positioned between the boarders of Germany and Italy (which are only 30-40 minute's drive south).

Bus trips also run from the resort centre if you fancy taking advantage of nearby attractions such as Linderhof Castle, the Swarovski Crystal World, Lake Achen or Neuschwanstein Castle, as well as city tours to Munich and Venice. Bookings can be made by various travel agencies in resort and you can also find information at the tourist office.
