There’s a huge après ski scene in Hinterghlemm with umbrella bars, live music on sun terrace and cosy rustic bars for cosy tea time drinks. The villages in the area have won awards for its après ski and for good reasons, there is just so much choice!

One of the most popular is the Hinterhag Alm which can be found right on the piste and has a great atmosphere. Live music is played daily with the crowd distributed over two floors, it is famous for the Herzerltanz (heart dance) where Evi throws hearts into the crowd (this first happened in 1976) it is now a daily tradition from 5pm.

The Goasstall is also right on the piste and a beautiful rustic place to enjoy a lively Austrian afternoon. Boasting one of the biggest parties after the slopes have shut and famous for it .

Awarded the 2010 best après ski was Apres world! Starting from 3pm with great music, themed night as well as varied drinking night with Monday night as the Jagermeister Party .


Eating out

Hinterglemm has a great range of restaurants which will suit all tastes, from traditional Austrian cuisine to pizzerias to steaks.

For a traditional evening the Fuhrmannsteube has typical surroundings and staff are extremely welcoming. They are able to accept larger groups easily which is great for fondue.

The Pizzeria la Pasta is right in the heart of Hinterglemm serving up quick and delicious pizzas. All portions are a good size at a reasonable prices for lunch or dinner +43 (0) 6541 7781.



Activities

Hinterglemm is a lively resort and there is lots going on off the piste as well as on. Of course there are the usual Austrian sports such as cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, tobogganing and sleigh rides, but there are also some a little different to try.

Archery is a great activity; the resort runs 2-3 hour sessions for 28 aims for €5 and €7 for rental .
What everyone would like to do is drive a piste basher up a steep hill, no problem from December to March and Tuesday to Sunday there are sessions from 1pm – 7pm. Driver yourself for €109 which includes instruction for 25 minutes, or ride as a passenger for €29 lasting 10 minutes .

Ice karting is great fun! Each kart is equipped with spike tyres to avoid losing control as you hurtle around the snowy course. The course is open from 2pm to 8pm and from February from 3pm to 8pm, sessions start from just 10 minutes for €10 http://www.icekart.at/index.htm.

Indoors there’s the bowling alley at Bobby’s Pub costing €1.80 for track for 15 minutes. There are 6 alleys so that up to 60 people can be playing at once!.

For children of 10 years and older the Flying Fox is not to be missed. The largest and fastest in the world, the fox reaches speeds of up to 60mph. Minimum age is 10 years with maximum weight of 120kg with prices starting at €79 for adults and €59 for children, extra for videos and discounts for second flight.

The whole family will love an afternoon spent on a sleigh ride, this is one of the best ways for the children to enjoy seeing the amazing surrounding. Prices for adults are €12 and €6 for children, trips last 1 hour .

Childcare can start from 3 months at the Snow Academy in the crèche. Meeting point is at the Kidergarten next to Spacy’s Snowplanet starting from 9.30am until 13.30 or 4pm. Prices start from half day for €26 or full day from €44, extra for buggy hire and lunches .

After crèche age the children can start in the Bamnini ski school, including stepping with skis, first sliding and stopping and control of speed in snow plough. Group go all the way up to Perfection Kids which takes groups on black runs, carving turns, short turning on blue runs etc .
