Resort Copper Mountain Resort Copper Mountain Resort Copper Mountain Resort Copper Mountain Resort Copper Mountain Resort Copper Mountain

Description

Copper Mountain is considered by many a local's mountain; although they have a ski school and beginner's terrain, 'Copper' tends to be frequented by Coloradans rather than out-of-state tourists.

It is well-known for its wide variety of naturally separated terrain. The ski area features beginner slopes on the western side of the mountain, intermediate slopes in the centre, and expert terrain on the eastern side. Advanced "double black diamond" slopes are located on the two peaks above 12,000 feet (Copper and Union Peaks), including four expert-only bowls: Copper Bowl, Union Bowl, Spaulding Bowl, and Resolution Bowl

Copper itself is about an hour and half outside of Denver.

Eating out

Copper Mountain is split into the East Village, West Village and Center Village. Most of the eateries are found in Center Village and there are around 100 restaurants in the vicinity of Copper Mountain, with a wide range of foods.

For waffles, the Belgian Bean is a great choice alongside a hot chocolate or coffee.
CB Grille offers steaks, seafood and pastas cooked in a wood fire grill. It is one of the more upmarket options.

On the mountain
Flyers Soup Shack is a lovely cosy pad located at the top of the American Flyer lift, open from 10:30-14:00.
Solitude Station
Located on the mountain, with a bit more of a sea food selection, they serve crawfish etouffee, jumabaya and gumbo as well as the usual fare.
T-Rex Grill is a great choice for on the slope burgers.
For something a bit different try Jill’s Umbrella Bar; it has great views of the mountain, but as the name suggests it is weather dependent!

Activities

Frisco, about five minutes from Copper Mountain, is the closest town to the resort proper. Silverthorne, including an array of stores, is a 12 minute drive from the mountain. There are some restaurants in Silverthorne, and it can be much cheaper to stay there than it is to stay in Copper itself.
