 | This is a wonderful, sunny resort set high in the Grandes Rousses mountains of the Southern Alps with 245 km of groomed pistes and 86 lifts. Alpe d'Huez is the fifth largest skiing area in France linking the villages of Vaujany, Oz, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans. There is great skiing reaching up to the Sarenne Glacier at almost 11,000 ft (3330 m) and with 700 snow cannons in operation, skiing back to the resort is guaranteed. | Apres Ski | Full of action with lots of live music. Try the Crowded House Bar in the Hermitage for a British atmosphere, Smithies Tavern, the Underground Bar in the Hotel Chamois and the Road House Bar in the Vallee Blanche. The 'O' Bar is a great place in the old town - see the Eating Out section for more details. | Eating out | More than 40 restaurants, all categories Pizzas from 10 Euros Fondues from around 20 Euros per person excluding wine 3-course menus from 25 Euros. L'Outa in the resort centre for an excellent ΰ la Carte menu. Passe Montagne and La Pomme de Pin for French cuisine, Smithy's for Tex Mex and Pinnochio for pizzas. A warm Italian and Scottish welcome awaits you at 'O' Bar, in the old town of Alpe d'huez - traditional Italian cuisine, Apres ski snacks and drinks offers, great music and bar license until 2am, free shuttle service to and from the bar.
