(2018-01-16 16:40:35)

Some of our favourite ski resorts will be hosting unmissable festivals this season, bringing together live bands and slick DJs with groomed pistes and stunning mountain surrounds.

Skiing and partying go hand in hand, and each year a slew of lively mountain festivals take the celebrations up a notch. If you like jumping to world-class pop, rock and techno beats, there’s no better place to be.

Below, we bring you some of the best festivals in the Alps this season – including some awesome events with free entry.

Rock the Pistes

When: March 18 to 24 / Where: Portes du Soleil / How much: Free with a valid lift pass

With more than 50 concerts happening across the many resorts of the Portes du Soleil, Rock the Pistes is a huge event. This year’s highlights include Oscar and the Wolf in Avoriaz, The Horrors in Les Gets and Alice Merton in Les Crosets.

The headliners will play on the slopes at over 1600m altitude, so you’ll need a lift pass, and there will be free après-ski concerts in the resorts to keep the party going.

Plenty of opportunities to mix a little live music into your next trip to the Alps

Electric Mountain Festival

When: April 5 to 6 / Where: Sölden / How much: free with a valid Sölden day ski pass

The Electric Mountain Festival is all about heart-pumping electronic beats in a beautiful setting. Each year, some of the world’s best DJs take to the open-air stage at the Giggijoch base station, and we’re sure this year will be yet another hit.

Live in Tignes

When: April 17 to 19 / Where: um…Tignes / How much: Free!

To close the ski season in style, snow-sure Tignes will be hosting three days of free concerts across two outdoor stages. The bill is mostly packed with French music stars, but the up-beat vibe will have the whole resort moving, no matter where you hail from.

Musilac

When: April 19 to 21 / Where: Chamonix / How much: From €117 for a three-day pass

Coming to Chamonix for the first time, the Musilac Mont-Blanc festival promises a star-studded line-up of international acts, including Beth Ditto, Rag’n’Bone Man, Shaka Ponk and Texas. And what could be better than a pop-rock festival against the inspiring backdrop of Mont Blanc?
