Apres

Filzmoos is a small pretty resort with has a great après ski scene. Everyone meets at the Happy Alm at happy hour which runs from 4pm which has a great atmosphere and dance music later on

The Kalahari bar is the hottest bar and serves up a mean cocktail, later on there is dancing until the wee hours http://www.kalahari.at/.

Finally the Kenn’I Di is a rustic bar with a cosy atmosphere, great for a quieter drink but still with a great atmosphere .

Eating out

There is a great selection of restaurants that mainly serve up locally sourced produce in a traditional Austrian style. The top choice is the Hotel Hubertus, here Joanna Maier has been awarded four “chefs hats” from Gault Millau www.johannamaier.at/de/die-kueche.html.

A simple pizza can be picked up from Pizzeria Pinocchio open from 11.30 – 22.00 http://www.pinochio.at/.

Activities

Off the slopes there are huge amounts to take part in from 50km of cleared footpaths and 7 different extensive cross country routes http://www.filzmoos.at/pdf/Winterwandern-Langlaufen-Englisch.pdf.

Horse drawn carriage rides are a fantastic way to see the scenary from Unterhofalm or Overhofalm lasting 3.5 hours return journey including a 1.5 hour stop. Prices are €17 per person, private hire for €130 with a maximum of 7 persons .

The leisure centre is open to all ages for a swim, sauna or massage. In the same complex is a climbing wall and bowling http://www.freizeitpark-filzmoos.com/.

Childcare

The Pistes in the ski area are fantastic for beginners, families and intermediates which makes it the perfect resort to bring children. Ski school’s youngest group runs from 2-3 years allowing children to take their first steps on snow and maybe work with attempts on special skis http://www.schischule-filzmoos.at/kinder-skischule.html. It’s then up to the Star Kids club for 3-4 year olds working on the gentle runs with magic carpet. Finally up to the normal ski school for children between 5-14 years old.

Off the slopes there is still plenty going on for the children to take part in, including Bartl the Bear programme, the local bear who will accompany them on the slopes, sleigh rides, on the snow shoes and on torchlight walk. Monday is a visit to the cave for bear stories, Wednesday is sleigh ride and Friday is looking for tracks on snowshoes .
