Apres

Bad Gastein: Good choice of lively and cosmopolitan nightspots with an impressive casino for those wishing to have a flutter.

Bad Hofgastein: Friendly, yet still a great atmosphere with a variety of bars, cafés and discos. Overall though, Bad Hofgastein has a relatively quiet après ski scene, most people gather at either the Piccolo Ice Bar or the Haggblom Bar and for lively après ski and parties.

For tea and cakes there are several good places to head to, including Cafe Weitmoser which has a great sun terrace.

Eating out

Bad Gastein has a good mix of restaurants to suit most tastes. For an intimate meal the Wintergarten is very good, in the hotel Hofgastein.

Great Italian food is served up in the Piccola (+43 6432 8369) Italia and Osteria Di Vino.

The fabulously rustic Schmaranzgut can be found on the hamlet of Wieden. This is also a farm through the summer and so much of the food is produced right here.
